Moores Hill Estate is a Tasmanian owned & operated winery based in the stunning Tamar Valley in Northern Tasmania. I first heard about Moores Hill when I had some family members visit the cellar door late last year & they were all blown away by the location, friendly staff & the fact that the winery was off-grid. This gained my attention as I knew the business would align with the Creatives Combined project perfectly. I sat down with one of the owners, Fiona Weller & we discussed everything from how the winery was started to how they operate as an off-grid business.

The winery building itself is an impressive steel structure, perched on a hill overlooking the vineyard with the cellar door located just next to it. This is where visitors to the area can truly appreciate the scope of the property & the incredible view into the Tamar Valley. It was fascinating seeing the winery where the team process the harvest, from the nearby fields, and bottle the wine. Fiona provided a glimpse into the winemaking process as she completed her daily sampling of the fermentation process that takes place in large steel vats that are kept on-site.

If you are curious about how the winery operates off-grid, the process the team utilises to make the wine & the history of the business you can find episode 02 of Creatives Combined linked below. I highly recommend checking out the property & sampling some of Moores Hill’s wines, next time you are in the Tamar Valley.

A big thank you to Fiona & Julian for letting us spend a morning with them at the estate, it really was a privilege to document their story. You can find their details below:
